"The Legend" preparing for his first race in Pro N/A
April 4th, 2007

Long Beach, NY Tim "The Legend" Ercolano in the burnout, testing at Atco Raceway with his new M.R.E. power plant. Tim is a Mopar man at heart, and has spent many years grudge racing at local tracks, beating up on allot of guys who felt he didn't have what it takes to win with his small block Mopar. He proved them all wrong.

Not always having the faster car, but knowing it takes more than power to get down the track, Tim concentrated on driving, which is what it took to prove them all wrong. After spending many years on the Mopar stuff, Tim took a break to concentrate on work, until he came across an old school turnkey Vega for sale and decided to go bracket racing.  While out testing, Tim met Joe at M.R.E. and saw first hand what he was capable of. Knowing the 10.50's the car was running at the time really wouldn't cut it, and always wanting to go faster, he looked to M.R.E. to help him get where he feels he needs to be, with his "more with less" mentality.

Although its not a Mopar, he feels his little Chevrolet  fit the bill for what he wanted to accomplish. He was then turned on to the RRNA series. While knowing what kind of power it would take to compete in the Pro class, he felt being the underdog once again with allot less power, and relying on his driving skills, along with just a little luck (what racer doesn't want luck on his side sometimes?), he may just be surprising a few people.

Tim's  Vega is now powered by a Maximum Race Engine's built/tuned 388 inch stock block small block Chevrolet, "small" 23*  Dart Pro 1 heads , Eagle crank and rods, Custom MRE cam, Custom M.R.E./JE pistons and a Pro Systems Carburetor. All backed by a glide, 8" 5,800 converter, and a 9" rear with M/T 31"X13" tires. Tim likes to play the underdog role, and says " I may not be the fastest in the class, but in drag racing, ANYTHING can happen". So true...

Future plans for the Vega consist of putting the car on a diet, updating the suspension and having  M.R.E step up the power with the small block to be able to compete in a class over-run with big blocks! Always the underdog.. Tim would like to thank Joe @ Maximum Race Engines for all his help with the new power plant, and working with the suspension, as well as the rest of the combination to get the car ready to compete, Jay at Allwired Installations Inc. for his professional wiring job, Dave at Exotic for the rear, and all of those who pitched in to get the car ready to race.  Last but not least, Tim would also like to thank his girl, Sue, for putting up with all of the racing for the past 19 years...  thanks Sue!
