With
their
Ed Quay
prepped 1991 Pontiac Firebird stock/super stocker John and Kathy Bailey
prepare for a run at the 2009 season in the Ram Racing sponsored Drag
Radial class. Ed Quay built the stock/super stock eliminator legal car
with a chrome-molly cage, wheelie bars, and a parachute for some high
winding wheels up launches perfect for the NA Shootout’s drag radial
class.
The
Baileys welcome 2 new major sponsors: First, Andrea Salvaggio from
Delaware Homes.
Without her help we could have never sold our old house which provided
the capital to finish the car. Second, Ken (Pontiac Dude) Keefer Speed
and Machine Shop also have stepped up to help the program in 09.

John
Gaydosh from Gaydosh Performance and Neil Owens both built Pontiac
motors. The motors utilize blocks from
AllPontiac
and cylinder head work from Brandywine Cylinder Head and Tom Slawko. The
engines are over 500 cubic inch and should make enuff power to run right
in the middle Drag Radial field.
Jim Hostler, transmission guru and AMI racer, helped by providing
transmission work and Butler performance provided lots of the parts we
needed to build the project.
The Baileys look forward to running several races this year. “I expect
it will take some time to get up to speed since I have only made a few
runs since 04,” stated Bailey, “I have followed the D/R class for a few
years and am truly impressed with the talent and dedication they have
shown. With a class this tuff I do not expect to just" jump in" out of
the blue and compete. I will just try to take baby steps and have a lot
of fun along the way!”
The Baileys want to extend a big thank you to Rich Maitre for giving
them a great place to race!
