“All Motor Madness” at
Mason Dixon Dragway!
We are now heading into the
home stretch of our 2008 program completing the fifth race of season at
Mason Dixon Dragway in Boonesboro, MD. Sponsored by Morrison Racing
Engines, This “All Motor Madness” race saw some fierce competition
and some newfound victories in the four all motor racing classes!

Libertys
Gears PRO NA
Coming up a few cars short
this class was nonetheless as exciting with the debut of Leonard Long’s
2004 Mustang into the PRO NA mix. The Jerry Haas built, former IHRA
Pro-Stock car is powered by a 398 cubic inch small block Ford and a
G-Force5 speed trans.

The original driver of this
car suddenly became ill and had to leave. Team Long was ready with Merv
Moyer taking the wheel to put down the fastest pass of the day with a 7.58
@ 180 mph!
Very impressive for the first
time out with a driver that had about a half hour to familiarize himself
with the car.

G-Force
10.5
A triple day of victory for
Leonard Long with not only his PRO NA car and driver taking home a win, he
himself would take home a double crown, first getting the win for the
outstanding Beaver Springs finals and once again taking the win and points
lead in this All Motor Madness race over rival G-Force 10.5 Mustang driver
Charlie Booze.

Ram Racing
Drag Radial
This small and exciting class
put on one heck of a show for the all-motor race fans with some wheel
standing action by Chris Diamond and Ron Rhodes. Diamond would take the
Wheels UP! Wheel stand of the day award when he took his 468 BBC powered
Chevelle for a “Wheels Up” ride down the track, not once but twice.

Ron Rhodes would come back
strong after making some hasty repairs to the championship winning Camaro
to face off with the powerful big block Pontiac of Jeff Kinsler. Kinsler
would stumble on the tree giving Rhodes the win on a hole shot pass of
9.186 @ 146.94mph r/t .057 over Kinsler’s 9.140 @ 149.25 mph r/t .121.
Purnell Body Shop AMI
A big 50-car all run field that was heavy
in the 10.00 and 10.50 indexes took to the lanes for many competitive
rounds that would narrow to leave 10.00 index racer Tom Guellich in his
Z28 against 12.50 index racer
John Catlett.
“Big
Tom” would get the better of Catlett running slightly under his under with
a 9.993 over Catlett’s 12.452.

The staff would like to send
out a huge thank you to Morrison Racing Engines for sponsoring the day’s
event as well as all of our class, series and contingency sponsors for
their continued support of the Naturally Aspirated Shootout Racing Series.
