GENERAL OVERVIEW
• The
Naturally Aspirated Shoot-out is a class designed for naturally aspirated
cars and trucks racing in a heads up format with an all run field
• All make and models are allowed as well as small block and big block power
plants
• Vehicles are required to be stock appearing and stock bodied and must pass
NHRA/IHRA safety inspection for ET and speed
• N/A Shootout is on a .400 Pro tree. A Pro ladder will determine running
order.
Points will be awarded at end of event to be compiled for end of
year points
fund. (Records will be awarded to holder at end of each event)
ENGINE
• All engines
are allowed and engine swapping is allowed.
• Dry sumps permitted
• Vacuum pumps permitted
• Raised Cam and tall deck ht. blocks permitted
• Cubic inch's will be verified by P&G method
• Mufflers are mandatory and collector mufflers will be allowed
• Gasoline is the only fuel allowed
• Motor plates are allowed but the motor must not touch the stock, unaltered
firewall
• Firewall cannot be notched or set back
• Distributor clearance is the only firewall modification allowed
BALLAST
• Must be
NHRA/IHRA approved mounting and be maximum 100# per individual
weight bar and be bolted or welded securely in car
• Two ½" bolts per 100#'s
• No loose or unsecured ballast allowed
CARBURETORS/INDUCTION
• Any
carburetor (s) allowed with penalties attached to multiple carburetor
systems
• Sheet metal intakes allowed with a penalty
TRANSMISSION
• Any
automatic or manual transmission allowed with the exception of
planetary transmissions (no Lencos)
• Any converter OK but ALL SHIFTS must occur manually by the driver
• NO AUTOMATIC SHIFTERS!
SUSPENSION
• Any
aftermarket bolt on suspension system is allowed both front and rear.
Coil-overs OK
• Ladder Bars, 4 links and backhalves allowed with weight adder
• Rack and Pinion conversion for the front suspension is allowed
INTERIOR
• OEM dash and
door panels are preferred and interior carpeted, bare panels
and fabricated dashboards preferred to have an OEM appearance
• Headliner is preferred
• Steering column may be modified preferred: maintain stock appearance
(cover)
• Two seats are preferred in stock location
• Minor variances to the interior rules will be evaluated on a case by case
basis
HOOD AND SCOOP
• Forward
facing scoops limited to 5" measured from the flat of the hood to the
top of the opening. Any opening taller than 5” must run plugged
• Cowl induction hoods can be any size
• Fiberglass body pieces must bolt on or pin on, no one piece front ends
ELECTRICAL
• No
electronic driving aids allowed
• No throttle stops, delay boxes or auto shifters
• Two step, trans brakes and line locs are OK
• Functional headlights recommended as well as taillights, running lights and
horn
• Data Logging computer OK as long as no vehicle functions are controlled
TIRES
• The maximum
allowed tire size is 30 X 10.5 ( non W)
• 13.50X30 street dot tire is allowed
WEIGHTS
• Engines up
to 310"/ 2600#'s, 335"/ 2675#'s, 360"/ 2750#'s, 385"/ 2825#'s,
410"/ 2900#'s, 430"/ 2975#'s, 450"/3050#'s, 470"/3125#'s, 490"/3175#'s,
505"/3225#'s, 525"/3275#'s, 565"/3325#s, 600"/ 3375,635"/3425#s, weights
will now be calculated with 3lb/cube increments below 470 and 2lb/cube
above 470
• Ladder Bar, 4 links & backhalves add 75 lb, two carburetors add 50 lb,
sheetmetal intake add 50 lb, EFI add 50 lb, Clutchless add 150 lb, Non
Conventional heads add 100 lb. (N/C heads include 18 sbc, Canted valve,
Buick, Big Chief style heads, etc., Victor heads and BMF are now deemed
N/C). BOPA conventional head subtract 100 lbs (Tiger head subtract 50
lbs).
23 degree based sb heads subtract 50lbs (victor jrs, 867, tfs high port).
No
wheelie bars subtract 50 lbs. 28" tires subtract 50 lbs. Subtract 50 lbs
for
OEM Styled 1981 and older subframe cars, 75 lbs full frame, 100 lbs full
size
bodies and trucks.
STARTING LINE CONDUCT
• Courtesy
Staging will be in effect at all races
• This means that no car can enter the second staging light until both cars have
entered the first pre-stage light
• All cars must stage under their own power, cars may be towed or pushed to
the lanes but must be driven across scale, with the exception of a break,
then
car may be towed back across only with permission. Bye-runs not required
to
run to advance, but give up lane choice.
SPECIAL
NOTES
• No N02 equipment
will be allowed on the car, all plates, plumbing, solenoids, lines, nozzles,
bottles, etc. must be removed from the vehicle. Only exception to the rule will
be for first time racers, they will receive a one race waiver to compete, but
the system will be thoroughly inspected and sealed to show its disconnected.
